However if you look at http://wiki.contribs.org/Help:Editing_pages and the sentence; "You can sign your message by writing 4 tildes ([[User:Steve288|Steve288]] 05:36, 26 December 2011 (MST))." Which clearly says use 4 tildes.

I suppose one puts -- in front of the name however the other does not. It just goes into a braket. It is a very small thing but I suppose I like consistency.
