DAR2
An smeserver contribution to schedule and run the DAR2 (Disk ARchive) utility
Maintainer
Darrel May (Contrib)
Description
This contrib uses dar (http://dar.linux.free.fr) to create a feature rich backup system for smeserver 7.x to network shares or attached USB disk. Based on and supercedes smeserver-backup2.
Installation
The contrib source files for SME Server 7.x can be found at ibiblio.org
To install this contrib, first download the packages from the site into an empty directory:
wget http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/smeserver/7.x/dar-2.3.2-1.i386.rpm wget http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/smeserver/7.x/smeserver-dar2-0.0.1-3dmay.noarch.rpm
Install with:
yum localinstall *.rpm
You will probably need to reboot the server before using the contrib. The yum utility, when run, will provide you with details of how to do this.
Note: some earlier SME Server 7.x versions required additional packages (e.g. FormMagick) that are now included in the very latest SME Server 7.x. If using an earlier version of SME Server, the required packages can be found with the dar2 package at ibiblio.org
Additional information
There is no yum update server for this contribution.
The dar utility is available for a number of platforms, including Windows. The Windows Version is command-line only, with no graphical view of files for restoring. A graphical interface (kdar) is available for Linux platforms.
Midnight Commander (MC) dar-extension
With the installation of DAR2 comes an extension for viewing .dar files from within Midnight Commander but it is not installed by default. You can find the files extracted in the /opt/dar2-mc directory. For installation of this extension run the install.sh shell script with:
cd /opt/dar2-mc ./install.sh
