SME Server talk:Documentation:Administration Manual:Chapter4
Corrections suggested by Randy Williams (uniqsys):
1.)In Hardware Requirements of SME Server "and Bugzilla:6671" should be deleted as it is closed and no longer applies
Bugzilla:4740 need to be remove as it speak about i586 with sme8 is not compatible ?: Stephdl (talk)
2.) Also, references to i586 are obsolete: "The server should work with any i586 or i686 compatible CPU that can run Centos 4.4." Should be changed to "The server should work with any i686 compatible CPU that can run Centos 5. Portability to Centos 6 is currently being developed in the SME Server 9.x release."
valid: Stephdl (talk) 3.) The special NOTE should be updated from SME Server 7 to 8, Centos 4.4 to Centos 5, Linux kernel update, etc.
4.) Eliminate i586 references in the "Minimum Hardware Requirement table.
5.) In the NOTE on Hard Drive configuration, the notice should read 'When you utilize more than one drive for advance RAID configuration, it is recommended as best practice that the drives all be identical in size and model. Prior to SME 7.1 this was a requirement but is now NOT a necessity.'
agreeStephdl (talk) 6.) The SCSI and ethernet adapter support needs to be updated to the correct Red Hat Linux Release.
7.) A link to the RHEL Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) should be added
agreeStephdl (talk) 8.) Requirements for (Cluster) Virtualization should be added (KVM, Xen, Vmware)
what about virtualbox, i use sme with phpvirtualbox/virtualbox the problem comes with openvpn-bridge but i have a solution to run sme over virtualisation...
RequestedDeletion (talk) Sure, Virtualbox too. In general we could add a few lines about compatibility and special notes (per platform) if required.
