Talk:The SME Server Developer's Guide
Why are we duplicating the manual here ?
see http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Developers_Manual_Read_Only
All links point to Gordons original, we don't want stale copies on the wiki. or to make extra work for ourselves in manually updating the readonly copy. the readonly copy is just for finding things with a wiki search

I have never found this page in the wiki. It is new for me.
Sorry, but I search the words "template", "templates", "developer", etc and never appear this wiki page.
Also I check "Most Popular Pages" and not found.
Well, what happens now? I not finish the work, it is the begining.
My idea is to formatted this guide more better, and split into volumes for better access.
Why you not want to publish this guide in the wiki? I feel the wiki is the best location, and not under a folder located under other folders, under etc etc. Ok, I understand you want to make this guide read only, for obviusly reasons.

From the very begining, e-smith, then Mitel, and then SME server comunity has a common syptom: a lot of good and useful information, BUT not well organized or eficciently located. When a beginner can found this guide? Only when found a link in the forum. But if hi search in the wiki the words "template configuration" always found nothing.
I hope that it indicates to me what to do.
I hope you can understand correctly my words, because my english is not good, and maybe misunderstand.

I understand why you wanted to do this, and I mostly agree, it's just how we do it
cactus asked gordon to wikify the devguide and he said no, http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2346
a search on template configuration found the devguide for me
I'll delete these pages, but thanks for making the effort !!

If you or anyone can work out how the readonly page can be displayed without formatting errors that would be appreciated, we want to be able to copy and paste whenever a new guide is created. or some other quick and easy method

You are right Snoble. but...the words "template configuration" return a few wiki pages, but not SME devguide. But if I tick all checkboxes in the foot of the wiki I found it. I think it is important to make these checkboxes ticked as default in the wiki configuration. Now this page appear under Most Popular Pages. Maybe if readonly is not indexed and not included in Most Popular Pages? Thank you --PicsOne 03:17, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
