Virus & executable content blocking tutorial for qpsmtpd
This page provides a link to an earlier Howto written for sme6.x
The link is posted here as a reference source for users of the sme server 7.x email executable content panel.
The method outlined in this earlier Howto has been incorporated into sme7.x
I will revise the old Howto & add it here when time permits.
Please disregard all references to installing rpms as this does not apply to sme 7.x.
There is good background information in the Howto regarding analysing and creating file patterns or signatures or magic, which will allow admins to create new patterns and add them to the mailpatterns database. A good place to start reading the old Howto is from the section titled "Analyzing and creating patterns" and onwards.
Please note there are some small changes in database arrangement, so you may need to make appropriate adjustments to suit the differences between the older sme6.x db and the sme7.x db. Note also that there are many additional patterns in sme7.x. Note also that sme7.x uses qpsmtpd instead of smtpfront-qmail.
