What are the benefits of this package compared to the PHPMyAdmin? - — Cactus (talk | contribs) 03:49, 15 May 2008 (MDT)
This version is multi user... It comes with a default user : admin (pwd admin by default) and all existing MySQL users can login... The maintainer is also updating this RPM more often than DMay's version...

Just because it is updated doesn't mean it is better. Well written packages won't need to be updated. This is especially true of integration packages. phpmyadmin package can be pulled from rpmforge and the sme part shouldn't have to change at all.
It would be nice to combine the best of both packages into one so we only have to maintain one and keep the confusion to a minimum. Does anyone want to look at what is different and see what it would take to combine these? Possibly with a db switch to enable/disable multi-user functionality. — Slords (talk • contribs). 11:24, 15 May 2008 (MDT)
- That's was what I was after, seeing if I could combine the two. Since I already cleaned out smeserver-phpmyadmin and converted it to be an integrational RPM. — Cactus (talk | contribs) 12:03, 15 May 2008 (MDT)
The more it is updated, the less security issues...
I agree, RPM could be merged... I can remember there is only one single change in the Apache template (or something like that).
I don't know if there are any RPM already build for this tool... That would be great!
I'll contact MasterSleepy to see what can be done ;)
- Wrong again, the frequency of updates says nothing about security. Doing it right the first time will save you doing a lot of changes and therefore rebuilds/updates.
- There even is a severe security issue in his contrib.
- Don't bother contacting MasterSleepy as I will. I will also submit to him the SRPM I created after ripping his contrib to the bare minimum as I am almost done integrating his changes to the smeserver-phpmyadmin RPM so we only have to maintain one contrib. — Cactus (talk | contribs) 14:48, 15 May 2008 (MDT)
- Cactus, where may I find your changes to the smeserver-phpmyadmin RPM that integrates his changes and allows MySQL users to log in? Pwalter 03:07, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
